This theme will develop a suite of secure communication protocols taking into consideration the unique characteristics of heterogeneous vehicular networks. This theme is organized in three projects each of which will concentrate on protecting potential security vulnerabilities in a vehicular network. To this end, authentication, authorization and privacy mechanisms will be developed. Moreover, protecting position information in localization systems is another concern that will be investigated and new solutions proposed. Finally, research also will focus on developing mechanisms to detect and isolate malicious nodes or invalid data in a vehicular network.

Project 4.1: Design of Authentication/Authorization and Privacy Techniques
Project 4.2: Design of Secure Localization Protocols
Project 4.3: Mechanisms for Detecting and Excluding Malicious Data
